Paddleboarding in
PaDDINGTON
Start in the heart of one of London’s most transformed neighbourhoods and paddle west towards Little Venice — where the canal opens up, the narrowboats get more colourful and the city feels very far away. One of London’s great paddling routes, right on the doorstep of Paddington station.

— Why paddleboard in Paddington
Urban Architecture to Colourful Charm
Paddington Basin sits at a fascinating point on the canal map. The basin itself is sleek and modern — glass buildings, floating restaurants, the kind of contemporary architecture that makes it feel nothing like the rest of London’s waterways. Paddle out from there and within ten minutes everything changes. The canal narrows, the trees close in, and you find yourself approaching Little Venice — one of the most unexpectedly beautiful stretches of water in the city, where colourful narrowboats are moored alongside elegant stucco houses and the whole thing feels more a bit more Mediterranean than west London.
The contrast between the two is genuinely striking and it makes Paddington one of our most interesting routes. Whether you’re organising a corporate session, a group booking or an individual lesson, the variety of the Paddington paddle gives it something the other locations don’t have.
The location is also, practically speaking, the most straightforward for groups to get to. Paddington station is a two-minute walk, which means groups coming from west London, Heathrow, the Elizabeth line and the Bakerloo and Circle lines all converge here easily. For corporate groups in particular, it’s often the most logical choice.
Calm water with no tide or currents to worry about. Ideal for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.
Paddington can accommodate larger corporate groups and small intimate sessions alike. We’ll advise on the right format.
Paddington has some genuinely good options for groups who want to continue the afternoon once they’re changed. The Cheese Barge is worth knowing about — a floating restaurant moored at Paddington Basin that specialises in raclette and fondue and is exactly as good as it sounds. The basin itself has a number of canal-side restaurants and bars, and the walk to Little Venice takes you past some of the most attractive towpath spots in London. It’s an easy location to build a full afternoon around.
