Why We Love Paddleboarding in Islington
With City Basin as your starting point, Islington is a great setting for paddleboarding novices to get to grips with the basics in a quieter space before heading out on the wider canal. Easily accessible from Angel and the buzz of Upper Street, this stretch of Regent’s Canal is peaceful and picturesque. Flanked by beautiful warehouse buildings, it’s one of the greenest areas along the canal with plenty of places to stop for a cold drink or to grab an ice cream.
Open Tuesday & Friday evenings and all day Sunday from July – October.

One Hour SUP Hire
One hour is the perfect amount of time to jump on board and explore the City Road basin area after work or at the weekend.
Head west over the lock to discover a lush secret garden of green. Peer through the Angel tunnel to Kings Cross before turning back to the towpath cafes for a quick drink and back to base.
Paddleboard Hire from £20/hour
Two Hour/Half Day SUP Hire
Take a bit more time and head east towards Kingsland Basin (2 hour return) or further afield to London Fields and Victoria Park.
Stop for lunch and a cold drink before returning back to Islington or make a day of it by making Hackney Wick your final destination.
